Definitionskos:definition | A percussion drilling method where rock or sediment chips are derived by using a drag bit or a down-hole hammer, and the cuttings are blown up the outside of the drill rods and collected at surface, using air or a combination of air and foam to lift the cuttings. This inexpensive technique can be useful in preliminary exploration, but samples are susceptible to being contaminated by material from the borehole wall above the sample depth. |
